This is the non-cryptic version of the jumbo puzzle. The clue is "western land mass" (#54 Across). I have A?A?I?A .... must be doing something wrong as I have tried everything.

Can anyone help? I've finished the puzzle except for this one clue.

Are you sure about the second a?
Could be America.

Thanks... I revisited #50 Down and I had "giant" (clue: very large) but changed it to "great" and that let me in with "America" so I'm sorted now. Whew!! This puzzle was a tough one due to so many ambiguous answers.
