Hello Everyone, all the very best for 2012 - and especially those undergoing medical treatment, or suffering from ill health - I hope this year proves to be a good one for you all.
thanks, Jazzgirl, for the help on those clues - I'd never have got 5d and 13d....
Regarding 16a not opening with a child on the throne
I've got:
-E-N-N-
all I can think of is reining - without the 'g' for being on the throne, but it doesn't make sense! Any additional clues welcome...
Also stuck on bottom r/h corner -
19d River below castle
-A-H-
20d Mock Somerset town...
-A-N-
Again, any additional clues would be appreciated.
I hadn't noticed the increase in price - it's essential buying, so no contest!!!
Regards to you all
Chris

Hi Chris
16a think of "with child" and deduct the r
19d the name of a river in literature.
(it is hidden across the clue)-E-H-

Check your spelling on 22A
20d A Somerset town without the last 3 letters.
-A-N-
Cheers.

Cheers, Jazzgirl - it's easy when you know how!!!
I've said it before, but I do sometimes over-complicate things...
Have a good weekend, everyone

Evening all! I'm still baffled by 10A and I'm not convinced by my answer to 1d any more. Help!

It must be my background, but I had KERNING for 16A.

KERNING (No Space) = KING (On the throne) with ERN (child)

I like my answer better than the correct one.

Think of the river which runs through Hereford and Chepstow and put it outside a 70 year old pop star who is also a "Sir".

Thanks Jazzgirl, I had 1d right after all. I hadn't noticed that I made a mistake when I wrote down the answer to 3d, I was reading the F as an A. The penny has now dropped. Set in Cornwall, wasn't it? Cheers.
