27dn "Monkey's way of deciding things (4)" I have "toss", but I can't see what it has to do with "monkey's"

Hi Wendy,Perhaps if you've done the crossword, you could explain for me: saturnine, make way, admit, square off, top notch, and plexuses. (My apologies to conributors without this crossword in front of them, but to include all the clues would be an essay!)

SATURNINE = “gloomy”, SATURDAY “wasting” DAY which leaves SAT + NINE, which is the number to the left of the clue.

4 is a SQUARE number, + OFF as in gone off
Square off can mean square up to

T for time + OP for work + NOTCH (as in degree)


COMPLEX less COM + USES (services)Plexuses are networks
