1 down - 'Pounds and shillings taken out of account if raised from revenue'

I'm not too sure about this one - I'm new to cryptic crosswords but from what I can work out, Pounds and shillings need abbreviating (p/l and s) and taken out of an 8-letter word for account to make a word meaning 'revenue' - but 'raised' suggests that you need to read up as well!

I've guessed at 'credit' because if p and s is added to that it can make 'scripted' but that's a loose connection to account at best!

Of course, I could be thinking completely down the wrong lines but... help?

Okay, that makes sense! I was trying to think 'fi' as well but didn't come up with fiscal!

Thanks! :)
