Is "Folies Bergere" a fair answer, being, as it is, foreign? The database didn't recognise "bergere" (I've added it to the suggested results).

ChrisE,I havent seen the crossword but the word bergere is defined in Chambers as an easy chair or sofa, if that's any help?

Yes - a French chair (I included this in my suggested definition). Three words in two days in the Guardian that the Crossword solver didn't have in its database - the other two being "Folies" and yesterday's "noshery".

I don't see how you can argue it isn't a fair answer, given that the clued definition was "cabaret" and it has to be the most famous cabaret venue in the world.
