Is "King" the clue for John? There were an awful lot of kings!

apologies for error. Yes John Donne (sounds like done)

I took King as the clue for John, and it fitted with 9a . There may be a better explanation though

I haven't been doing the Jumbo Cryptic long and haven't managed 9ac yet. Jocosely? since cos is a lettuce.
