Hug and kiss border flower = oxlip.

border/lip
kiss/x

leaves me with hug/o (???)

The hug is the O in Chambers. I presume the o is like arms around!

I should perhaps add that hug itself is a containment indicator.

Well like an anagram indicators and there are thousands of them,let you know that there is an anagram in the clue,similarly a containment indicator lets you know that the solution may be split within the clue. That's a gross oversimplification I'm afraid but the best I can do.

Thanks again. When it comes to anagrams, I just seem to know they're there - don't think I've ever been consciously led by an indicator!
