Some obscure clues this week, but enjoyable nevertheless. Although there is only one possible answer for 3D, I still don't see the wordplay and I don't think 15A sounds like any small creature I know. Perhaps it's because 18A is a pretty accurate description of me.

Seamus, 3D - I think it is a three letter word (container) within a four letter word (keeping). 15A - the little creature is very little, picked up in long grass and not easy to remove. I'm not at all sure I've explained these very well but I should be asleep at this time!!!!

Regards, Lainey

Good morning all
My usual good wishes to old gal, Navigator and Pipesmoker.
I agree with Lainey on the wordplay for 3D. As for the "little creature" I have removed quite a few from my dog, being particulary careful not to leave the head behind! But I didn't think the clue was well crafted.
I enjoyed 18A, 20A, 23A, & 14D
As for 5D I based my answer on motorcycling, but there could be an alternative.
Kind regards

Try this as an alternative clue for 5D:

Blundering apes felt (with direction) another blunder (5,4)

Hope that helps.

oh dear Seamus, how I love your clue for 5D.
But I was not totally awake this morning when I posted my answer for 5D when I should have typed 4D !
Now you will see what I meant about motorcikes (or not ?) I need a coffee I think. ;0)

Don't think 4d has to do with motorbikes.
A word which means both "a go" and "a ride".
Hope this helps.

hi cantersue
I agree and that's why I changed 4D earlier today.

Hi everyone and good wishes to Old Gal,Pipesmoker & Navigator.

I liked 12A,18A,20A,13D,9D.

Seamus, your additional clue for 5D confirmed my answer.

Will probably have to ask for help later.
