Yesterday's was a bit of a bugger, surprised there's no other posts...

"Like letters starting Dear Sir all over a novel" = alveolar. (Aye, I see the anagram...)

"Different kings held eastern English in bad odour" = reek. Why 'different kings'=RK?

"Drink's better if not dry" = beer.

Many thanks.

Alveolar = a consonant articulated with the tip of the tongue near the gum ridge.
r and k both represent kings in crosswords.
tt means teetotal or 'dry'

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I'm still not getting the 'beer' clue...

Hi pooksahib,
