Hi all!

Can anyone help with this one:

Substance taken by king in tower is supplied by doctor (9) R-G-S-R-R.

I'm pretty sure it's REGISTRAR, but can't work out why!

Could it be: GIST = substance, and REAR = tower (ie to rear up)?

The king part of the clue is the 'reg' at start of answer

Substance(GIST) taken by,i.e. inside King (R) inside tower (REAR). RE(GIST)(R)AR.
