53 A (13 ltrs) artist hasn't succeded with a couple of animals-then reposition characters.
..a.r.m.a.i.e
also for some reason I put Rossetti on 31 A,but cant see its got anything to do with matzo/unleavened bread.Is it wrong?
If not,could 20 D be beriberi?Just guesses-dont see the logic but thankful for help!

Dandelion,thank u so much.
31 A (8 ltrs) artist's circle,after beginning to starve,tucked into unleavened bread.I'm stubborn with my answer ROSSETTI but dont know why,where is the unleavened bread?! Is it wrong?
Think my head is to unclear for xwords today and tomorrow I guess u all clever solvers will be gone.

ROSETTI = artist

S = beginning to starve
ROTI = unleavened bread

Not sure how the other letters fit, but hope this may help a bit
