As a newcomer to the Guardian crosswords, I am gradually getting the hang of things, I find some hard & some I am able to solve! However, I am confused by the doubles today. Apart from the clues seeming hard, I don't know where A begins & B begins. Any guidance or hints would be greatly appreciated. At least I know what my weekend consists of!

You are right:it will be a long slog unless you are absolutely brilliant! You can't know where the division is until you've solved one half. The common theme is a name shared by several authors,a literary "hero",a profession etc.try referring to all the help given to me & others in the previous thread, but even then a lot of reflection & research will be needed!Don't give up:it's worth it in the end (just)! And happy hunting!
