Have you noticed the ambiguity in today's AZED ?
24a can be either CATENATE or CATENANE

hello again Tony - think I'll go with catenate - chambers gives linked as its definition.

Hi SL & thanks for your view.

My copy of Chambers (admittedly very old) gives both CATENATE & CATENANE as 'linked like a chain' and in the absence of any subsidiary indicator in the clue it could be either?
On balance however I agree with you.
