Hint to anyone else struggling:- Note that this crossword is 4444 so the unclued answers are connected to all the' fours'. Trust that's not too much of a spoiler.

Finally got there - phew! An interesting departure from the usual format - hard work, but enjoyable. Onwards and upwards to Mephisto and beyond!
