to explain further when I was in primary school we were made to sing Sur la pont d'Avignon... which was some nonsense about an elephant dancing on the brige at Avignon.
It may have been the sixties but I assure you that no hallucenegens were involved!. Oh and its Avon abbout sign without the leading S

I did mention it was Primary school and I defend Miss Doris Kiley, my teacher, if she got her La's and Le's wrong.
I googled the lyrics and there are gorillas and frogs in various verses. If miss Kiley said there were elephants (especially with the rhyming to the french "pont" I believe her. If she was using mind changing drugs at the timeI cannot say. So Nyaaah
