Im just wondering how everyone manages this crossword. At a guess I would get 60 -70% of the clues over my Saturday morning coffee and then the rest has to be solved with a varying mixture of - and normally in this order - Google for the "general" knowledge, the quick solve on this site and finally the help forum. Maybe I'm jut dim? :-)

just keep trying and learning.

It's just practice, and if it was too easy, it wouldn't be as enjoyable.

The 'Quick Solve' on this site is crap, there are far better sites dedicated to do that,eg,

and many others)

sometimes none of that will work but you are almost guaranteed to get an answer here, or an explanation to an answer.

I have never seen that solver site and have now bookmarked it.
There are many anagram solvers out there.
I remember when we used to get together on a Sunday morning and trawl through all those reference books .There are reports that people are using Google as a second brain and loosing their capacity to remember.
I tend to agree.If I ask my nieces any questions they just Google it!!

thanks sallyw,but I want to push my point again.It easy to cheat but any of these sites must be a last resort.Think,think and think again until you have to ask for help on a site like this.
Help and explanation is preferable to a direct answer.

I agree tonyw that it's far more satisfactory if you can do it with maybe a hint or a nudge in the right direction, but sometimes you need a little more than a nudge, even though it often leads to a doh! moment when you see the answer!
