Thanks for these answers...founding fathers works but I had not figured on them being from 1787, I thought they were earlier! Bassett hound.... Can't work this back to the clue, but it also works with everything ! Thank you both.

May I apologise for the lack of explanation. The girl is Tessa, reversed in spring=bound with H for horse, giving basset hound.

That's not very convincing Mrs Grundy. As you said previously you weren't sure. That's why you didn't give an explanation - you didn't have one. Wait 'til someone provides one then pretend you do know.

Surely if Basset Hound is correct(and it is),then 12 must start with a "B",and not as you state.
