I am stumped on this one!

utes is aussie for pickup(utility vehicle)

Many thanks tonyw - you've made my day! I had wondered about "chutes" but couldn't see the logic.

About 25 years ago, the character Joe Mangle was always talking about his "ute" (His pick-up truck) in the Aussie soap Neighbours.

And just in case you didn't know,

Erinsbough - the district where they lived is an anagram of Neighbours
