8A As mentioned earlier, think of a place associated with former president Bill - not the Oval Office!
I'm stuck on 22A too, also 3D I have -ILS-I- I know the missing letter is A. Nudge please?

I will have to think again. can't help with 3d as "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" on that either.

may have just sussed 3d is it something a plane could do? if so could someone explain to me how the last 3 letters work in the wordplay

Yes Mrs Trellis - sounds like you have it - the last 3 letters are what you have to remember when you use the ATM machine or when you use your bank card

In 22a the missing 2 letters go at the end - rare bewilderment is the defn

Thank you sudokulover and Tig, got it now. Well, I'm finished - although there are one or 2 answers I'm sure of, but not quite why. Which is fitting, considering the last line of thre instructions.

Tig, if you're still looking for 22a, I can amplify sudokulover's hint. The answer is a rarely used word for bewilderment. I wouldn't have thought it was a synonym but the OED gives it.
