Looks like some kind of bar-which could be stop?
20d Horse is originally Mexican or Egyptian word, say (7) A_A___M
If horse is nag, it could be anagram, with M for mexican?
I dont know, do I?

Arab - horse, is,original letter in Mexican - m, Arabism, could be Egyptian word

For the first one, it isn't clear where the g comes in the first word.
