I don't understand the Cryptic bit

carnivores tucked into birds

I'm looking for a word meaning carnivores or a carnivores inside a bird but can't see it

can anyone help?

so far I've found OTTER insides PIES (as in magpies)

I think you're there, really.

Otter are carnivores.

The plural of an otter can be either otters or otter, so 'pies' outside 'otter' fits the clue.
