I think the first answer may be ANIMOSITY although I'm not quite sure why.

There is an anagram of 'a tiny' in there, leaving 'mosi'. 'MO' (modus operandum') is roughly equivalent to 'way'. That would leave 'si' unexplained. Was the word 'is' missed out from the clue that you gave?
