EDEN appears to be the answer. Anthony Eden became Avon after royalty bestowed some title on him

Sorry Paul if my answer came across as terse and Republican! Anthony Eden was created Earl of Avon in 1961.
You can take the lad out of Scotland but you can't take Scotland out of the lad !!
