The answer includes the name of a tree; any ideas?

They flock after the Magpies (4,4)

Bungle and Zippy may like this tree (8,4)

The second looks like it should be Rainbow Tree, but the numbers are wrong.

Could it be TOON ARMY (Newcastle United fans)?
Apparently toon is an Indian tree of the mahogany family.

I also thought of the Rainbow Tree, tried to find out if the answer length was wrong to no avail.

If nothing better comes up shall be going with Sunshine tree.

There was an episode where they were on an island and used a green umbrella as a palm tree - so perhaps Umbrella Palm?

Chambers gives UMBRELLA TREE as " any of various trees........especially N American magnolia.No mention of umbrella palm. Just a thought.

The online encylopaedia give Umbrella Palm as:

"An Australian palm tree (Hedyscepe Canterburyana) cultivated as an ornamental for its feathery, drooping leaves with silvery-blue sheaths", and its also mentioned in Wikipedia.

There's also the umbrella pine, shaped as named, found all over southern Europe and north Africa.
