I've been toying with Consume/Costume, but no luck yet

overall is a complete dress but can't get the first bit to work

My mother used to "take in" my sisters dresses to fit them ,so I am going for tighten.

My mind can not get past my "O" level Fashion and Fabrics...oh those heady days.

So I am with "taking in" darts, tuck etc...

It's a homophone (Take in = understand = realise = "listen to or hear"); CLOSE = to complete (Ch.D) and, as TJ says sounds like CLOTHES = dress.

"Taken in to complete dress" would have been better. Ah, hindsight!

I tend to pronounce the word Clothes as Cloves.
My fault,not the clue.

Glad that was solved...and yes a I would love to have 20/20 hindsight.

Had to "google" Shavespoke...I will try and work it in to a conversation tomorrow!
