It's in New Yorker's pocket or in turn-up briefly = nickel. The other thread on this clue didn't help me - where is the CKEL coming from?

Stack mine at front of plane = cockpit. I've not been able to find why stack=cock.

The "in turn up briefly" indicates "in" reversed to give Ni the chemical symbol for Nickel. So it's the whole word Nickel briefly, not just the "Ni" part. The "-ckel" bit comes with the abbreviation.

I totally agree with cockpit clue? I just put it in because nothing else fit. The nickel clue has been explained on another thread, bit deep though for a Monday morning, do these people not go out at weekends.

Chambers gives -cock - verb to pile into heaps (as hay etc).
Thus "stack mine" = cock pit.
Agree it's a bit of a stretch....
