26a Hootenanny, party that's died with distribution of rye (7) I have DOO??EH but I suspect some letter/letters may be wrong because nothing seems to fit the clue ???
17d Idle wastrel producing abusive term about lecturer (4) SL?? slob? slug? can't see how the clue works.

I can see party = DO and distribution or rye means the ending is ERY

But that means there are two missing letters when died can only clue for D as far as I can see.

I don't do the Azed, but understand that there's usually some pretty serious preamble involving how to change answers beofre entry into the grid. Good Luck!

Died= OB
Distribution of rye = ERY
DOOBERY

Aahh .. looks like Doobery then.... Can't find a definition yet but the breakdown is

Do= party Ob - obit -died

ery - anag of rye

It's not in my Chambers but I'm on a fairly old edition.

26A is DOOBREY(thingamy)

Its an alternative meaning of Hootenanny - not a party but a Thingummygig

hence Doobery
