So far I've got T_E_N_E - all I can think of is TWEENIE but is that a real word?

TIE contains WEE = tiny, and N = new.

So, yes, it must be T WEE N IE

I think it must be Tweenie, the cryptic part gives:
T(WEEN)IE
TIE = 'Couple' as in to join together.
TINY = 'Wee'
N = 'New'
The word is not in any of my dictionaries but does show up in some on-line dictionaries where it is defined (sometimes as an abbreviation of 'Tweenager'!!) as a child between the ages of 8 & 12 - a pre-teenager.
There is also a BBC TV program for kids called The Tweenies.

Deer concealed crossing far side of plantation - Could this be hid for concealed with "far side of plantation" - n to give hind - a deer?
