of all the Guardian crossword setters I find Paul the most frustrating for some reason!

Would someone give me a start on this one please?

Into smacking, if I then propose shaking, the results should confirm it (3,5,2,2,3,7)

The proof is in the pudding???

Another word for smacking enclosing an anagram of the following words ... I found the phrase by imagining what the rhythm of it was from the word lengths, then worked it out from there. Not quite the proper thing to do, perhaps!

I do the same re word length and rhyme.

I often have a mental block when faced with an anagram.
