4) Crossworder may be seen as such a circus performer (5-9)

5) Clobber, bits on the outsides of trousers once (7)

Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I spelt a word wrong in No1. It should be 'athlete' and not 'athelete'.
Really do apologise guys, that just isn't like me.

Other than that, you are correct with Deadpan, Sword-swallower and Toscanini. Well done up to now.
No mistakes in the others, I've checked!
I have left myself open to a good bollocking I think, (excuse the language)

could 1. be....adelphi theatre. phi being the greek bit.

I hadn't noticed my mistake in No1 at first, then my good lady alerted me to having too many E's in the anagram.
It all ended up OK, hope you enjoyed those, they were from Sunday Times 17th/May/2009
