Hi Old gal. Hope the MRI thing went ok today and things are not as bad as you have been anticipating. Our thoughts are with you. I agree about the lovely walks in The Cotswolds. The nearest I get is watching Midsomer Murders, which I have just been doing for about the 3rd time for the same show!! Even so, I never seem to remember who the murderer is anyway!!

Have changed my name from Murphy to Teapot. I enjoyed this week's crossword. A different angle.
Hope your MRI was not too ghastly an experience,Old Gal. I had one a few years ago and they had to give up because I couldn't keep still. Not fun. Bet you were braver.
We must be from the same general area - I am often to be found in the Cotswolds - usually partaking of a cuppa and scone- but I have been known to ramble (in more ways than one).
Have been thinking of you while I was away rambling in Nidderdale, but it was too remote to get on line. Can recommend the area for walks, peace and beauty. Very different from the Cotswolds, of course.
Wish you well.

Hi Teapot! I had fun in the MRI - I felt as though I was an old banger having an MOT in a garage. Lots of clinks, clunks and other peculiar noises. Only there for 35 mins so not bad. Off tomorrow to get the new RT so see you all on another thread.... nite nite

Thanks Caravaggio

Great extra hint on 14 down - that final clue had me stumped for an age. All I could get to vaguely fit until then was MOISTENER (taking a slightly different meaning of "applicant", and which could also be comforting!). But it was stetching def'ns somewhat, and found no place for the quest.
