I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

It’s been suggested that solutions are withheld till 5 pm BST (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

3. Badgers leaders to curb extensive tax evasion (4)
4. Curse put on Excalibur, for example, goes around (5-4)
5. Expressing mild surprise, go on about Rural Dean with tendency to carry net! (6,7)

anyway I think he's wrong on number 2. should be "the now" . anagram of "noteworthy" without "tory".

The last one gave me the most trouble. But after staring at it for ages it suddenly clicked.

Loved the clues this week, especially the badgers. Had to check Chambers for Cete, so another new word to add to the little green book.
