?I?R? Think the answer might be Tiers (Scales are like tiers of skin)and a tie is a form of support, but I'm far from certain. Can anyone help please?

Sorry you're not correct. You need to think of the 'wall finally' and then the 'one' and then the support, which is gender specific to give a big clue.
