Looks a bit like slitter

Chambers has SLATTER = to be untidy or slovenly but this is a dialect verb coming from slattern??

Hi, Jolan, good to hear from you, and thanks for the explanation. Up here in porage land, a slitter is a person who is likely to have egg on his tie, or one who habitually spills things as he works.
