Totally Stumped - can I ask how you know the proferred answers are incorrect?

Its from a app game where you enter the word, then move on when correct....

Can you explain how you know if an answer is right or wrong ?
The "d" you mention, I suppose you do not know where this letter is supposed to be ? Any other clues you can give us ?

All good guesses that I previously tried. I thought I may be overlooking the obvious, but maybe it is not so.....I am towards the end of the game (some 300 words) and the clues get trickier. BTW, the D can appear in any position, but I suspect it begins with a D.....
