I'm stuck on two answers in a local quiz, in which the subject is "Birds", and wonder if anyone can throw any light on these:-

1. You could fly this bird, or drink it, or take it to B&Q

2. Leaping enforcer.

I am absolutely stumped, so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, JimB - it is just a 100 question quiz with cryptic clues, each answer being the name of a bird. For example (and this is one of the corniest!!) : "Thank you for the Renault", the answer being Ptarmigan (Ta, Megane!!) Ouch!!

Thanks, Helena - I'm having difficulty with the "Take it to B&Q" part - people usually bring things back from B&Q!! Thanks all the same for your suggestion.

I think the first one is KINGFISHER (an airline, a beer, the DIY store owner).

Brilliant, JimC ! Now just the "enforcer" clue to get. Many thanks for your help.

Trout as it leaps and "out" is what an enforcer may do.

Yoshik, I think trout might just stretch the definition of 'Birds' a little too far!

Hi again.

A bit of a longshot here, but maybe the second answer is CROSSBILL.

BILL (police) would be the enforcer.
CROSS could be as in 'leap across' or could be taken to mean 'angry' (in which case a better clue might have been 'Hopping enforcer').

On the other hand, this may all be a terrible red herring (or brown trout).
