I have an old book: "The Complete Crossword Companion" by Jeremy Howard-Williams "New Expanded Edition" which claims to be the "Master key to quick and cryptic puzzles".

On the back there are what appear to be 2 cryptic clues:

1 "The whole thing spoken in anger to a pal" to which I assume the answer is "The Complete Crossword Companion"

2 "Quart in pint pot fails to perplex addict"
the answer to which I haven't got the faintest idea.

Every time I pick the book up it annoys me, so I wondered if anyone on this site might be able to provide a clue - if the answer's really obvious I'll just put up with feeling like an idiot

as it was already 'Complete' and is now 'Expanded'
always room for more?
