Completed except for 2 down. B-A-. Can't reconcile any word with "patrol route" part of clue.

Laurence as I have not got the crossword I cannot be sure but could the answer be BEAT

Thanks friend. I have considered all possibilities. The full clue is "Bribe attendant to cover patrol route". As I am one of these awkward people who like to reconcile the clue to the answer, I can't see where "bribe" and "attendant" fit in.
