I'm pretty sure that "corsage" is the right answer to no.5.

As Ixion indicated, 'core'/essence around 'sag'/bag (a 'sag bag' is not something that I'd heard of but is defined in Chambers as 'a large bag filled with a substance...').

Ixion, you cracked CROSAGE = COR(SAG)E = spray.

As you say. Chambers Dict has Bag = to sag
Chambers Thes also has sag = bag.
Oxford Thes of E Language has Sag = bag.

And, of course, CORE = Essence.

Hi Jolan. I started to take a look and managed 3. Specter (reversed in the clue - US spelling) and I was thinking along the lines of Snore for 2. but that would have to be Catch flies rather than Catches Flies ! Had to go to a meeting on the Village Web site which I manage..this dragged on unfortunately! - hopefully will be around next week
