Clue is "Quiet school work" I only have s_i_l I can only think the answer is "still" I can see quiet could relate to still and work can relate to still, but where does school come in to it.
This is from Daily Express 5/12/2005!!

If I remember this crossword correctly (joke), then you are right. The answer is STILL.
S (school) + TILL (work the land) = STILL = Quiet.

Thanks to The Alchemist, I have quite a few old Daily Express Crosswords around but don't always have the solutions.
