"comedies" wasn't what I had in mind but, in the absence of any intersecting letters it might work, if you would explain ... ?

Second half of clue is OK one of...... Moliere was famous for writing comedies.
First half very iffy. blade come you die.

If you're dying, then you will stop sooner or later anyway.

But in the meantime, although Molière is famous for his comedies, I think the clue would have worked with Pinter or Marlowe or any number of others instead.
