I agree with fimfan on DOLCE but can't get all the wordplay - look at the compiler!

It's actually DOOCE. It means to get fired or get the sack. Some kind soul posted it at the Answerbank.

AJT - I think your earlier post (re do/tidying etc) was slightly too subtle for most folk. I thought it was good in that it didn't explicitly give the answer.

The word is NOT in my copy of Chambers and nor is 5d and God knows what 33 ac is G*DAFL*P as that's not in my Chambers either. (Mind you it's not the latest copy.)

33 Across is in my Chambers. The letters you've given are not all correct.
