The obvious answer is NOTE but.. why?

I think the answer may be NETT (like take-home pay, after deductions). The 4 letters of NETT are the even letters of 'invest it'.

Jim is right but the explanation is that, if you look at the words 'iNvEsT iT', you'll understand why the compiler has used the word 'regularly'...
