Good morning.
Feeling sure I'm missing the obvious, could someone explain the wordplay of 14A
Can James or Charles grind down this political theorist? (4,6,4)
JOHN STUART MILL, fits the crossing solutions and seems clearly the answer. MILL = grind down. Charles = Charles STUART??? but James = John? No!
I'm clearly looking at it incorrectly.
PS. Found this one quite difficult.

Can = John in America
