I was thinking SET DOWN, but, again,not sure of that !

I've gone for let-down. In the absence of any better explanation, I see it as a kind of double definition - let-down meaning disappointment, and let down meaning deflated. So a let down spare tyre would be a disappointment. It's a bit flaky, I know.
