By the way, jomac, I too am impressed by your (what must be a) teeming brain. I had the anagram but certainly didn't get the Belloc reference. Oh-and ixion, how are you coping with the Scottish gloom? I hope it isn't cold enough to turn you into a riggald- or worse.

All present and correct thanks Aristo - the gloom has lifted - able to play golf yesterday(didn't lose a ball their either)though the tees need to be screwed in!

My brain doesn't really teem, Aristophanes. But for some reason this verse took my fancy and I committed it to memory years ago. First time I've had a chance to recite it.

If you committed a Belloc poem to memory (or ANY poem, for that matter) you must be over fifty. I can still be impressed. Could you translate it into Aramaic? There was a time when every American child had to recite "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." THAT isn't the case any longer- soooo dead-white-guy...
