Inspirational work almost cutting supplies (4,4)

I only have: -i-e/----

I don't necessarily want the answer, but some tips on how to work out the clue would be great!

For 21d I have --t-

Is my t wrong - the Fred Astaire link made me think of something else which would make the "t" wrong.
