Look into a request for help?(6)PRAYE?
Does present tense of 'look' mean it can't be 'prayed'? 'Prayer' could mean request for help, but then how to include 'look into' in wordplay?

What about PRAYED. Pryed = took a look into, with the 'A'

Are you sure of all your crossing letters, MH?

@Les40, the same problem applies -- 'Look' implies the present tense.

What about this then, it could be a clue where the words within the clue start to be used twice to explain the word play. See what you think...
Look into = PRY, going into (A RE)quest (quest being a pointer to anagram), Request for help = PRAYER

Hi Bullfrog-I'm sure of the letters.
I quite like Les40's idea of an anagram of PRY and A RE. On the other hand, how about PRY into which you put A for starters-PRY can mean examine, ie without the 'into'.

The crossing letters are PRAYE- so I think it can only be PRAYER as PRAYED doesn't make sense.

The word 'a' becomes PER, enclosing RAY, which somehow translates to LOOK.
