I have an answer for this (CYRANO DE BERGERAC) - but please can someone explain why it's right? It looks as though it ought to be an anagram, but I can't find the correct combination of letters in the clue.

It's puzzling me too! Greece by Draco but then need an not in that's available?

its an anagram of "greece by draco", with "ran"(published) in it.

Ah yes thank you - I had missed the r.

Thanks! It was the missing R which was puzzling me; I've never come across that use of it before. It does seem a bit obscure though :-(
