Hi Polly Dee,

I can't come up with a word beginning with 's' which fits the bill. Having trawled through various articles on mistletoe root[s] the general expression seems to be HAUSTORIUM [singular}.

I'm sorry that I can't be of more help.

Regards,

Caravaggio.

I presume on here no one cares when it ends.
I am impressed if you have done it all but that one as I have a long way to go
Do you think 14 is a mistake
and can you give me clues to these please
39 swooping, roar - nautical term starting with D E or F
58 take an important event and stir - Gem metal or mineral starting with L or M
62 mix up to straggle - gem metal or mineral starting with M or N

Thanks

Hi there.

What quiz/puzzle do these come from?

@Polly Dee ... Would you be able to provide the exact clue (punctuation and all) for the mistletoe clue?

@mysterygal ... If I'm right on the answer for no.39, a hint is that it is two words (6,4). The first word begins with D and the second with B.

Best Wishes.

Hi Mysterygal.

I think no.58 is a metal and begins with L. No biggie if I'm wrong though!

Best Wishes.

Hi again.

No.62 is a six-letter mineral often used by great sculptors.

Polly Dee,

Could the mistletoe answer be STEM, which is also the formost part of the bow of a ship ?

If it's right at all, then D B is nautical equipment.

Don't hesitate to come back if further hints are needed.

There is a Day Board (and a Day Beacon) which are aids to navigation - if that helps.
